Menuplanning is a great way to also save money. By planning yourmeals, you can make sure you buy exactly what you need, stick to yourbudget, and create healthy homecooked meals.

Thisworks under the assumption that you keep certain pantry staplesalways stocked. (Here is a great site that has a pantry stapleslist: http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/shopping-storing/food/pantry-staples-checklist-00000000000197/index.html) It also works under the assumption that you are stocking up on thegood deals such as meat and cheese when it is on sale so that theseare always staples in your pantry. For example, chicken is agreat price at No Frills 1.49 for boneless skinless chicken breasts. I bought 8 packages and will be using them for the next monthin my meal planning.

Jenis on vacation for the next couple of weeks, so I will try to focuson making my menu a little healthier!! Jealous!!

Thisweek I am focusing on Super Bowl type foods, but healthier! Don't beafraid to make large portions of these meals and turn around andserve them again on Sunday! I'm sure your family and friends won'tmind, mine don't!! These recipes are in no particular order.

Omaha Weekly Pricematching and Good Deals 2/1 to 2/8

Hi Everyone!

Once again we have had a week of growth on the chain! Thanks to everyone who shared and posted on their facebook about the chain! If you want please feel free to post about the chain on your facebook with my email address and have your friends email me if they want on the chain. I also have a friend in the Kansas City area who does this exact same thing, so if you know someone in that area, please let me know and I will send you her email for her chain!

A very important note this week- In the coming weeks, my husband (a computer/software engineer) is going to help me make this email and my blog post more user friendly, a little prettier, and hopefully even better! I would really appreciate feedback from you all on things you would like to see. I know for sure we will include a new feature where each item will have a checkbox that you can check and then a button at the bottom that will allow you to print or make a pdf with your own customized list of your choosing. This way you don't have to go thru the store with five sheets of paper trying to find what you want, you will have your own list! If features like this sound good to you, let me know! I would really appreciate any suggestions of feedback you might have to make this information better for you!

How to Pricematch: What I do is print out this list and take it right to Walmart (or retrieve it on your smart phone by clicking on the PDF format attachment!). Load up your cart and when you get to the register be sure to separate your price matching stuff and put it at the end. Then tell the cashier you have price matching and just read off the list as they scan it and they will adjust the price. Remember, you can match generic, produce, and meats-not just name brand items! I tried to hunt down the coupon match ups as best I could! Remember that the best deals are the ones that you pricematch AND have a coupon for!

Something to note about my abbreviation "SV" - it means Select Varieties. Because the advertisement says "Select Varieties", Walmart will allow you to choose from ANY variety of that particular item. Example: Hershey's Baking Chips, SV 8-12 oz: You can select from any variety of Hershey's baking chips (butterscotch, peanut butter, milk chocolate) so long as they are within the 8-12 oz size guideline.

As always if you ever see a good deal I missed (because I'm basically working off my shopping list here) please email and let me know so I can send out another email to everyone! This chain is intended to get lots of good deals from everyone to help everyone out!

Tip of the week: It is totally worth the few minutes to find the coupons for the items that are moneymakers, while you may not use these items you can always use the extra cents it gives you on your bill. Walmart allows you to have overage on items and apply it to your total bill at the end. So if you aren't going to use 20 bottles of KY Jelly, you can probably use the extra 4 bucks on produce or meat. Then you can donate the items you don't want to use (I recently learned that planned parenthood and the Nebraska AIDS project iswilling to take all that KY Jelly!) So my tip of the week is get the moneymakers!!

Another tip I have this week I have said before but it bears repeating, you may notice I never have baked goods on the pricematching list. That's because the only place I EVER buy baked goods is the Rotella's "Day Old" store located on 6949 South 108th Street Omaha, NE 68128. You can buy a loaf of bread there for under 1.00, usually .75-.95 cents. They have all the varieties including rolls, buns, chibatta, wheat, oat, pizza dough, garlic bread, ect. Anything you can think of. This week I picked up giant dipping bread bowls for the super bowl!! I'm also including their phone number andemail. Give them a call or email them if you need specialty items. Or to check and see if the bread you want is in stock. Bonus-they always give away free hard rolls to the kids! It's my daughter's favorite part!!

The other night we went to a comedy show and the comedian asked who was on their first date and the some people stupidly volunteered that they were and even more information that they met on match.com.
I hear of people doing this more and more. I want to make jokes about it, but I think secretly I'm jealous. My husband I met because he told his coworker, who was my best friend's husband, that he was giving up abstinence for Lent. So my best friend's husband told him he knew a nymphomaniac. There were no qualifiers or warnings about each other's faults. Sometimes I think it would have been nice to receive that email before I married my husband, it would say things like: Seth is chronically late. He also has a tendency to pick out large facial hairs and throw them in your sink, but not wash them down. If you give Seth is own bathroom, he will never tell you it needs to be cleaned and therefore, makes cleaning it a hazardous task. But worst of all, when you tell Seth you need a nap and its his turn to watch your monster child, this is what you will wake up too:

In all fairness, I'm totally sure my warning email would have said things like: loves to watch hours of tv and if not watching tv will spend hours reading books. Will constantly whine when her technology doesn't work. At least once a week, will call you crying begging you to come home and bring dinner because she couldn't possibly imagine putting a meal together when she can't even keep the kid from eating crayons. Even though she spends an hour putting together meal planning lists. Even though she is an avid coupon and deal seeker, she will go over budget at least twice a month, but will make it a big deal when she is actually under budget. Even if she is under only a dollar. She will also give birth to the most beautiful exasperating child on the planet earth.

Menu planning is a great way to also save money. By planning your meals, you can make sure you buy exactly what you need, stick to your budget, and create healthy homecooked meals.

I have a warning though, I'm a constant crockpot user and make ahead kind of meal planner. If I can take something out of the freezer and warm it up, that works best for me!

This works under the assumption that you keep certain pantry staples always stocked. (Here is a great site that has a pantry staples list: http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/shopping-storing/food/pantry-staples-checklist-00000000000197/index.html) It also works under the assumption that you are stocking up on the good deals such as meat and cheese when it is on sale so that these are always staples in your pantry. For example, this week chicken is a great price at No Frills 1.49 for boneless skinless chicken breasts. I bought 8 packages and will be using them for the next month in my meal planning.

Jen is on vacation for the next couple of weeks, so I will try to focus on making my menu a little healthier!! Jealous!!

Menu planning is a great way to also save money. By planning your meals, you can make sure you buy exactly what you need, stick to your budget, and create healthy homecooked meals.

I have a warning though, I'm a constant crockpot user and make ahead kind of meal planner. If I can take something out of the freezer and warm it up, that works best for me!

This works under the assumption that you keep certain pantry staples always stocked. (Here is a great site that has a pantry staples list: http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/shopping-storing/food/pantry-staples-checklist-00000000000197/index.html) It also works under the assumption that you are stocking up on the good deals such as meat and cheese when it is on sale so that these are always staples in your pantry. For example, this week chicken is a great price at No Frills 1.49 for boneless skinless chicken breasts. I bought 8 packages and will be using them for the next month in my meal planning.

Jen is on vacation for the next couple of weeks, so I will try to focus on making my menu a little healthier!! Jealous!!
